BIO

Bill started as a coach for his daughter Nicky in the softball leagues in Plover, Wisconsin.

Bill and Nicky sought out local pitching instructors and learned the finer points of pitching from:
Rod Runyan the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point pitching coach,
Jim Piotrowski the Pacelli High School pitching coach
and his daughter Pacelli pitcher Jenny Piotrowski who won state titles and pitched for the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay.

Bill also attended pitching clinics by:
Michelle Smith (U.S.A. Olympic Gold Medalist Pitcher, pitching instructor and ESPN softball analyst)
and
George Jones professional softball pitcher and teacher.

(Please see the Video page for information on videos produced by Michelle Smith and Jennie Finch).

1998

Bill joined the Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) softball coaching staff as the pitching coach for new head coach Tom Drohner.
Bill developed state championship pitchers that complimented the hitting and defense directed by head coach Tom Drohner and assistant coach Todd VanderLoop.
SPASH was runner-up state champions in 2000 and went on to win state championships in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2011.

2008

Bill resigned from SPASH softball to concentrate on coaching young pitchers and assisting his daughter Nicky, head coach of P.J. Jacobs Freshmen softball team.

In 2009, 2010, 2011 Bill returned to SPASH softball to coach (part time) one of his longtime pupils, Kelly Franks.
SPASH won two Wisconsin State Division I Championship and Kelly went on to record setting years as the a pitcher at St. Cloud State.

Bill ran free pitching camps in the every August, helping to develop younger pitchers with proper mechanics. Do to WIAA regulations however, Bill could not coach girls during the fall and winter, after they entered the SPASH softball program in 9th grade. Fall and winter are the critical times when pitchers are working on mechanics and additional pitches. So Bill resigned and began coaching girls year round. Bill opened Bill Mansur Pitching in the September of 2012, an indoor fastpitch instruction facility for pitchers 8 and up.

With his experience Bill has helped many different styles of pitchers and been inventive in developing techniques to correct flaws in any motion or form mechanics.
He teaches some of the same warm-up, drills and pitches that led to 7 state chamiponships.

He also gives clinics to pitchers through out Wisconsin.
